The short answer
Check two separate limits: the contacts you are billed for and the emails you may send. Omnisend Free and Klaviyo Free each allow 500 emails a month for up to 250 contacts or active profiles, while Kit Free holds up to 10,000 subscribers for one user. Automated messages usually count inside the sending allowance.
Count the list you will be billed for
Start with the supplier’s contact definition. Kit counts unique active subscribers. Omnisend bills subscribers and non-subscribers who receive automated messages, while excluding unsubscribed contacts. The same exported list can therefore produce different billable totals.
Add campaigns and automated messages
Estimate newsletters, welcome sequences and lifecycle messages for the same month. Omnisend Free and Klaviyo Free each list 500 emails/month for up to 250 contacts or active profiles. An automation feature does not remove that email cap.
A larger free list can still have feature limits
Kit Free lists up to 10,000 subscribers and one user. Its Creator plan adds unlimited visual automations and branding removal. Decide whether list capacity or the workflow you need is the actual reason to upgrade.
Use the plan’s send formula
Campaign Monitor Lite lists monthly sending at five times the selected subscriber count; its shown 500-contact scenario allows 2,500 sends. Include automated messages in the plan’s relevant sending allowance and confirm the selected price in the interactive pricing page.
Trial signup and unsubscribe
Test a form, a sequence, suppression and an unsubscribe. Check how the account behaves at the cap. Keep separate SMS, push and website-builder charges outside the email-only subscription estimate.
