The short answer
A backup schedule says how often copies are taken, not how quickly you can get the site back. Decide how much data loss and downtime you can accept, check the selected tier’s backups, retention, staging and restore tools, and run one test restore before you move the live site.
Define the recovery requirement
Choose how much content loss your business can accept and how quickly it needs the site back. This determines the required backup frequency, retention and access to restore tools. A daily backup alone does not establish your recovery time.
Read the selected tier
SiteGround lists daily backups and reserves staging and on-demand backups for higher tiers. Pressable Signature lists hourly database and daily full backups. The shown Kinsta configuration lists 14-day backup retention. Match the actual tier rather than the supplier’s general feature page.
Make a staging copy
Test your theme, plugins, checkout and background jobs on a copy before changing DNS. Check what staging shares with production and whether deployment can overwrite live data. Keep a separate export of data needed to undo the move.
Run one restore
Create a harmless test change, restore the backup and inspect the result. Record which files and database data are included, how long it takes and who can initiate it. A supplier claim about reliability is not your observed restore result.
Budget for traffic and storage
Pressable publishes visit and storage overage rates; other hosts use different resource models. Count the likely peak as well as the typical month. Confirm migrations, domain handling and support ownership before the final transfer.
