The scenario determines the useful comparison
For 5,000 contacts, two users and custom webhook actions, compare Mailchimp Standard with MailerLite Comfort. Essentials does not include the Mailchimp application webhook action required by this scenario. That restriction is separate from API audience events.
Comfort has a documented monthly send allowance and three seats; Standard has five seats and documented overages. A higher sending volume can change which tier fits. Unknown setup and tax terms prevent a complete payable-total comparison; neither product is declared the overall winner.
MailerLite Power documents unlimited sending, subject to vendor terms, and the calculator now recognises that allowance. Annual billing is available in the captured MailerLite observations; exact Mailchimp annual charges were not captured.

A newsletter team with occasional automation
Begin with the same contact count, seats and monthly sends for both products. Mailchimp Essentials and Standard use contact tiers with different allowances. MailerLite Comfort uses a tier-based sending allowance; Power documents unlimited sending subject to fair use. A tier that fits today's list can still differ in headroom for an extra campaign.
If the team only needs a visual editor and regular newsletters, keep optional integration requirements out of the first scenario. Then add the automation requirement you actually expect to use. This makes it clear whether the shortlist changes because of a necessary feature or because of a preference entered by default.
When a webhook becomes essential
Mailchimp's documentation places application webhook actions on Standard or Premium. That is a specific restriction, not a blanket statement about every Marketing API endpoint. MailerLite's reviewed documentation covers webhook configuration and automation actions. Confirm the event and action on the selected plan before treating either product as a fit.
A useful enquiry names what starts the workflow and what the external service must receive. A generic “supports integrations” answer does not settle that question. Keep unresolved action-level eligibility visible in the scenario rather than hiding it behind a product-wide feature badge.
Choose the payment period deliberately
The catalogue retains separately observed annual charges for selected MailerLite tiers. It does not have equivalent verified annual charges throughout Mailchimp's range. Compare supported payment periods and leave missing observations unresolved. Do not multiply an advertised monthly equivalent into a supposedly verified invoice.
A higher subscription may cover the required workflow or team, while a lower one may need an upgrade or leave the requirement unverified. The comparison has no universal winner: finish with the exact offer that fits the scenario and the remaining questions about taxes, setup and extras.
