What Klaviyo does
Klaviyo runs email, text message and WhatsApp campaigns and automated email flows. It connects to ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce and Wix, and segmentation and automation are available even on the Free plan.
How the plans are counted
Klaviyo prices by active profiles, meaning contacts who may receive marketing emails, and each plan has a monthly email allowance. Free covers 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month, plus USD 5 of mobile messages. The paid Email plan at 500 profiles includes 5,000 emails a month, which is 10 emails per profile (5,000 ÷ 500).
What you pay
The Email plan costs USD 20 a month at 500 active profiles. A limited-time USD 19 credit brings the first month to USD 1 (USD 20 − USD 19). Its terms limit it to accounts without a paid Klaviyo plan in the previous 12 months that buy by 30 November 2026, after which the plan renews at the standard monthly rate. Taxes are not stated.
Limits that change the choice
A Free account that passes 250 active profiles or 500 emails in a month cannot send until the next billing cycle or until it upgrades. Removing Klaviyo branding also needs a paid plan.
What the documentation leaves open
Prices for more than 500 profiles appear only after moving the estimator slider, so they are not recorded. The page does not show Email + SMS prices, annual billing or the number of users. One FAQ answer says paid tiers have no send limits, while the estimator shows 5,000 emails at 500 profiles.
When to compare alternatives
Omnisend is the closest comparison for a store: Standard costs USD 16 a month for 500 contacts with 6,000 emails, and Pro is unlimited under fair use. If your list is mostly newsletter readers rather than shoppers, Kit lists no sending limits and a Free plan for up to 10,000 subscribers.
Before you buy
Work out how many of your contacts are active profiles and how many emails each gets in a busy month, then compare that with 10 emails per profile on the 500-profile Email plan.
