Overview

What Twilio SendGrid does

Twilio SendGrid's Email API sends application email. The price depends on how much you send each month and which feature tier you need, from a 60-day free trial through Essentials and Pro to custom Premier plans.

How the plans are counted

The free trial lasts 60 days and allows 100 emails a day, so it is a test rather than a permanent free plan. Essentials starts at USD 19.95 a month and covers 50,000 to 100,000 emails; Pro starts at USD 89.95 for 100,000 to 2,500,000. The pricing page shows only these starting prices, and the exact price depends on the volume you select. Twilio bills monthly and offers no annual, quarterly or prepaid billing.

Limits that change the choice

Essentials includes 2 event webhooks and 3 days of searchable email activity, the same history as the trial. Pro raises this to 5 webhooks and 7 days, includes one dedicated IP and allows 1,000 teammates instead of 1. Longer activity history and extra dedicated IPs can be bought, but their prices are not shown.

Overage and support

Sending past the plan's allowance may add overage charges on top of the monthly rate, and SendGrid suggests upgrading if you hit the limit regularly. The overage rate is not on the pricing page, so ask for it before you pick a tier close to your expected volume. Expert services and personalized support are sold separately, also without a published price.

What the documentation leaves open

Taxes may apply but are not stated. The page does not list how many sender domains each plan allows, and it gives no price for each volume step above the starting prices.

When to compare alternatives

Mailgun has a permanent Free plan at 100 emails a day and publishes its overage rates, starting at USD 1.80 per 1,000 on Basic. Postmark keeps 45 days of content history by default, against 3 days of searchable activity on SendGrid Essentials.

Before you buy

Pick the volume step that covers your busiest month and read its exact price at checkout. Decide whether 3 days of activity history is enough to investigate a failed delivery; if not, price Pro or the history add-on. Use the 60-day trial to test event webhooks with your application.
